Discovery Week 2026: Learning Beyond the Classroom
In May 2026, CCKSians stepped beyond their usual classrooms for two action-packed days of Discovery Week. Featuring more than 20 activities, partner organisations and learning journeys, the programme gave CCKSians opportunities to explore new interests, acquire practical skills and discover how learning connects with the world around them.
Our CCKSians participated in a wide range of hands-on experiences. Some discovered the joy of making music through ukulele sessions, while others challenged themselves through bowling and inline skating. These activities encouraged CCKSians to step outside their comfort zones while developing confidence, coordination and teamwork.
Learning journeys brought CCKSians into authentic workplace and community settings. At Nippon SG Aquaponics and Fogo Fungi, they explored urban farming and sustainable food production, gaining insights into aquaponics and mushroom cultivation. Real-life Mathematics activities also helped CCKSians recognise how concepts learned in school can be applied to everyday situations.
Through Education and Career Guidance industry visits to At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy and Republic Polytechnic, our CCKSians gained valuable exposure to the culinary and hospitality sectors. They observed industry practices, tried practical tasks and learned about the skills and attitudes required in different careers. Other CCKSians connected with the community through service activities, including meaningful interactions with young children at a kindergarten.
Throughout Discovery Week, our CCKSians learned by doing—asking questions, attempting unfamiliar tasks, reflecting on their experiences and supporting one another. Whether they were creating music, growing food, preparing dishes, serving the community or learning a new sport, each experience helped them develop a broader understanding of themselves and the possibilities ahead.
Discovery Week showed our CCKSians that meaningful learning can take place anywhere—from classrooms and farms to kitchens, sports venues and community spaces. It was a memorable and enriching way for CCKSians to conclude the term with new skills, fresh perspectives and greater confidence.
