International Friendship Day 2026: Celebrating Diversity Through Music
At Chua Chu Kang Secondary School, International Friendship Day 2026 was commemorated through a special assembly that celebrated the richness of cultural diversity and the importance of fostering friendships across borders. Through the universal language of music, our CCKSians discovered how different cultures, traditions and shared experiences can bring people closer together.
The highlight of the celebration was a captivating performance by the talented Y String Quartet from Hummingbird, who introduced our students to the vibrant musical traditions of Southeast Asia. Through their engaging performances, our CCKSians experienced how music reflects the unique identities, stories and heritage of different communities while transcending language and cultural barriers.
Adding a special touch to the celebration was a joint performance featuring our very own Issac from Class 2D. Beyond showcasing his musical talent, Issac shared his personal violin journey, inspiring his schoolmates with his passion, courage and perseverance. His experience served as a meaningful reminder that pursuing our interests and stepping beyond our comfort zones can create opportunities to connect with and inspire others.
More than a musical celebration, the assembly encouraged our CCKSians to appreciate the diversity of cultures within Singapore and the wider region. It reinforced the importance of embracing differences, developing mutual understanding and building meaningful relationships with people from different backgrounds.
Through this memorable commemoration, our CCKSians were reminded that international friendship begins with openness, empathy and respect. By celebrating our shared humanity while appreciating our unique cultural identities, we can contribute towards a more inclusive, harmonious and interconnected world.
