Founders' Memorial Student Archivist Project
Our CCKSians recently embarked on a meaningful journey as part of the Founders' Memorial Student Archivist Project, preserving personal stories that reflect Singapore's rich history and heritage.
As student archivists, our CCKSSians interviewed the parents of their teachers, capturing firsthand accounts and memories from an older generation. Through careful preparation and thoughtful questioning, they created a welcoming environment that encouraged interviewees to share their experiences with openness and sincerity.
The project provided our aspiring historians with an authentic opportunity to develop historical inquiry skills, empathy and active listening while appreciating the value of oral history. By engaging directly with individuals whose lives have witnessed Singapore's transformation, our CCKSians gained deeper insights into the nation's journey and the importance of preserving stories for future generations.
Beyond recording personal narratives, the experience strengthened our CCKSians' critical thinking, communication and civic literacy, while fostering meaningful intergenerational connections built on mutual respect and understanding.
Through the Founders' Memorial Student Archivist Project, CCKSS continues to nurture reflective and compassionate learners who recognise that history is not only found in books, but also in the lived experiences of the people around us.
