Secondary 2 ECG Learning Journeys 2026
Our Secondary 2 CCKSians explored diverse industries through ECG Learning Journeys, discovering future career pathways while developing Emerging 21st Century Competencies (E21CC). These experiences inspired students to recognise their strengths, explore their interests and make informed choices about their futures.
Exploring Possibilities, Discovering Passions, Shaping Futures: Secondary 2 ECG Learning Journeys 2026
What does the future hold for our Secondary 2 CCKSians? A world of possibilities waiting to be explored!
As part of our Education and Career Guidance (ECG) programme, our Secondary 2 CCKSians embarked on a series of enriching learning journeys to explore different industries, discover emerging career opportunities and gain a deeper understanding of the world of work.
Beyond introducing our CCKSians to possible career pathways, these authentic learning experiences were designed to nurture Emerging 21st Century Competencies (E21CC), equipping them with the knowledge, skills and dispositions to navigate an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world.
Discovering the World of Work
Our CCKSians ventured into a diverse range of industries, each offering valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of different professions.
At the Singapore Youth Flying Club, they explored the fascinating world of aviation, discovering the discipline, precision and perseverance required in the pursuit of flight.
Visits to DHL and SMRT provided insights into the complex systems that keep Singapore connected and moving. From global supply chains to public transport operations, our CCKSians gained a greater appreciation of how technology, teamwork and adaptability contribute to the smooth functioning of essential industries.
At Silicon Labs, our CCKSians discovered how engineering, technological innovation and problem-solving shape the digital world, while a visit to the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) introduced them to creative pathways where artistic expression, imagination and inventive thinking open doors to diverse careers.
Through the Maritime Discovery Exhibition, they learned about Singapore's maritime heritage and the industry's continuing importance to our economy and global connectivity.
Sustainability and future planning also featured prominently. At Fin by Boat Aquaculture, our CCKSians explored innovative approaches to sustainable food production and Singapore's food security. Meanwhile, their visit to the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) provided insights into the complexities of urban planning and how Singapore balances competing needs to create a sustainable, inclusive and liveable city.
Together, these experiences helped our CCKSians appreciate the diversity of career pathways and recognise how different industries contribute to Singapore's development.
Developing Emerging 21st Century Competencies
While career exploration was a key focus, the learning journeys also provided meaningful opportunities for our CCKSians to develop E21CC through authentic encounters with real-world challenges.
Critical Thinking was encouraged as our CCKSians examined how industries respond to complex issues, from managing global supply chains and transport networks to balancing land-use priorities and strengthening food security.
Inventive Thinking came to life as our CCKSians discovered how creativity, innovation and technology are used to develop new solutions. Whether exploring engineering advancements at Silicon Labs, creative possibilities at NAFA or sustainable aquaculture practices, students gained an appreciation of how fresh ideas can transform industries.
Adaptive Thinking was reinforced through exposure to rapidly evolving workplaces. Our CCKSians recognised the importance of embracing change, acquiring new skills and remaining open to opportunities that may not yet exist.
The learning journeys also strengthened Communication and Collaboration, as our CCKSians engaged with industry professionals, asked questions and learned how teamwork underpins success across different sectors.
Through their encounters with industries that connect Singapore to the wider world, our CCKSians developed greater Civic, Global and Cross-Cultural Literacy. They gained a deeper understanding of Singapore's place in the global economy and the shared responsibility of individuals, organisations and communities in shaping a sustainable future.
Connecting Experiences to Education and Career Guidance
An important objective of ECG is to help students develop a stronger understanding of themselves, explore educational and career opportunities, and make informed decisions about their future pathways.
For our Secondary 2 CCKSians, these learning journeys came at a particularly meaningful stage as they prepare to consider their subject combinations and educational pathways for Secondary 3. Exposure to different industries helped students connect classroom learning with real-world applications. They could see how subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Humanities and the Arts contribute to different professions, while recognising that careers often require a combination of knowledge, transferable skills and personal qualities.
More importantly, the experiences encouraged students to reflect on their own interests, strengths, values and aspirations. Rather than viewing career decisions as fixed destinations, our CCKSians were encouraged to see their educational journeys as opportunities for continued exploration, growth and discovery.
Through this process, we hope to nurture CCKSians who are increasingly confident in making informed choices and taking ownership of their learning and future aspirations.
Growing Together, Thriving Together
Our Secondary 2 ECG Learning Journeys demonstrated that meaningful learning extends far beyond the classroom. Every industry visit provided an opportunity to ask questions, challenge assumptions, discover new possibilities and gain fresh perspectives.
As our CCKSians interacted with professionals and explored unfamiliar environments, they learned that success in the future requires more than academic knowledge. Curiosity, resilience, adaptability, collaboration and a willingness to keep learning are equally important.
Reflecting our school theme, “Growing Together, Thriving Together,” these experiences supported our commitment to nurturing CCKSians with Future-ready Mindsets and Empathetic Hearts who Act Responsibly.
By empowering our CCKSians to discover their passions, recognise their potential and explore the possibilities ahead, we hope to inspire them to approach their futures with confidence, purpose and an enduring spirit of lifelong learning.
